How do I Identify?
- When you enter the chat, simply change your name to the name you registered and then type:
/ns identify password

Why should I register my nickname?
- There are several benefits you get for registering your nickname;
* You'll always be able to use that name
* No one else can impersonate you
* Any and all ranks within a chat channel are always handed out to people with registered nicknames only. This to make it a lot easier for the current Operators.
Linking nicknames:
If for some reason you wish to have more than one nickname registered to you, instead of registering them all you can simply link them to the first nickname you registered. The command is:
/ns link (nickname)
Example: /ns link Bugs
You'll need to use your registered name when you use this command and need to be identified.
What are the ranks in the channel?
- The head of the channel is called the founder(QOP).
- Below the founder there are the Special operators, or admins(SOP). They can, just like the founder, add and remove Automatic ranks. Depending on which channel you join there the number of admins can vary.
- Below the Special operators are the operators(AOP). Charged with the day to day running of the channel and keeping the peace inside the channel.
- Last but not least we have the Half operators (HOP). They help the operators and the others in keeping the channel peacefull.
How do I join other channels?
- you join another channel on there with the command:
/join #(channelname)
Example: /join #waiting4oblivion
there are several that you might find interesting:
#elderscrolls (this is the official unofficial channel of the official forums)
#waiting4oblivion (the official channel of our site)

Help for Hops, Ops, Sops:
Commands
Unfortunately there will be times when you'll have to use some show of force to keep the peace in the channel. We prefer you to solve things by speaking to people, if however they keep breaking the rules and refuse to listen to reason, then there are a few commands you can use to make them listen.
- Devoice;
The simplest of commands is devoicing someone. It takes away the ability for them to speak if the channel is moderated. You do this by right clicking on a name, and choosing the option "devoice".
- Kicking;
Next in line is the kick command. It removes a user from a channel. A kick is always temporary. You do this by right clicking on a name and choosing the option "kick".
- Banning;
Banning is something to be used as the last resort. A ban prevents someone from ever entering the channel again. So long as the ban is in place that is.
You do this by right clicking someone and choosing the option "Ban".
- Kick - Ban;
The two can be used combined. It simply means that not only will the user be removed from the channel, he'll also won't be allowed back in.
Channel modes:
There are certain modes to be set in channels that can limit the freedom of users.
The syntax for using channel modes is;
/mode #channelname +(mode) to activate it
/mode #channelname -(mode) to deactivate it.
Example: /mode #waiting4oblivion +m
The more common modes:
- m "moderates" the channel. This means unless you have a voice, or have a rank of HOP or higher, you won't be able to speak.
- i "invite only". This means you cannot enter the channel unless someone already inside the channel invites you.
- l "Limit". This limits the number of users that are allowed to be inside a channel at any given time.
- p "private". This makes it so that only people on the access list are able to enter the channel. When you hold a certain rank in the channel, HOP, AOP, SOP or founder, that means you're on the access list.
- s "secret". This prevents the name of your channel from showing up on the channel list. Meaning you need to know about the channel to be able to go there.
- c "colors". This mode makes it unable to use colors, bold or underlined text in a channel.
- N "notice". This mode makes it impossible for users to contact eachother through the /notice command.
Thank you for reading this, I hope it's helped in answering some of your questions.
On behalf of the entire Waiting4Oblivion staff we hope you have a lot of fun in the chat channel.
Alexander.
